Eleven and a half years of vision science, most of it spent on a question the field had never systematically answered: what happens to the optics of the eye when you stop looking straight ahead — and does correcting it help anyone see better?

Peripheral optics

How the eye sees away from the line of sight

The first systematic mapping of monochromatic aberrations across the peripheral visual field, and how accommodation, myopia, ageing, orthokeratology, laser surgery and intraocular lenses reshape them.

Visual performance

What blur actually costs a person

Acuity and contrast sensitivity under defocus, astigmatic blur and adaptive-optics correction — connecting optical measurement to what someone can genuinely see.

Lens design

Turning optics into product decisions

An ARC Linkage programme with Carl Zeiss Vision testing whether correcting peripheral refractive error improves real visual performance, delivered as publications and confidential industry reports.

Ocular biometry & disease

Eye shape, retinal shape and diabetes

Partial coherence interferometry methods for estimating retinal shape, and the effects of type 1 diabetes on biometry, straylight, lens yellowing and accommodation.
