Five and a half years teaching into optometry programmes in Australia and India — clinical techniques, ophthalmic optics, visual science and ocular anatomy — plus supervision of PhD and undergraduate research.

Fourth-year optometry research groups of 4–5 students each, across 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Practical and clinical technique groups; up to 60 for lecture-based Visual Optics in India.

Units taught

Fourteen teaching appointments.

Most were practical and clinical-technique units — the ones where students perform a procedure for the first time and need someone to notice exactly what their hands are doing wrong.

Five years of volunteer work through L.V. Prasad Eye Institute and Sightsavers International — school and village screening, talking books, and training field workers in rural Madhya Pradesh.
